Disciplines of a Godly Woman... welcome to the club! (14 Feb 2015)

Dear friends, It’s time to time to knuckle down!

We've committed to reading this book - let's do it well - let's plan to get the most out of this book, and the time we spend reading it and discussing it. Let's be disciplined!! If there's a Bible verse, look it up! If there's a geographical reference or something, check it out! If there's a thought or a question - think about it! If there's a prayer, pray it!

And so it’s time to kit up! Choose a time and a place to do your reading each week, and do it! Maybe Sunday? What a great way to use the Lord’s Day. And get a little kit together so you're prepared for doing your reading - have your book, Bible, a notepad and pen. Have you got one of those pretty journals with blank pages that someone gave you once? Too nice to use? Now's your time to use it! If we use an atlas, (for example, or something else) in the course of the book, keep that with your reading kit so you've got it to hand if we need it again.

Next, put a note in your diary or an alarm on your phone to remind you to do your reading. Plan to share a thought about the chapter with the group each week, online if possible, or in person with someone else reading the book.

I would suggest you don't read ahead. Let's keep to one chapter each week. If you've got extra time in your reading slot, re-read the chapter, or take extra time to read the Bible verses covered. Think about what you've read, and pray! We have a wonderful God and we will never ever regret spending extra time with Him in prayer.

The questions will go up one chapter at a time, on Saturday night. Questions in brackets we suggest are for private reflection rather than group discussion.

Read the chapter after the questions go up. Then answer the questions in your notebook. Come and add your thoughts in the comments on each relevant chapter post on this blog. Answer each question or jump in and give your thoughts on the whole chapter.

Be courteous at all times please and keep to the topic : )

I (Deb) will be moderating comments and keeping discussion on track... feel free to ask me any questions...
